Foot and Ankle Conditions

Foot & Ankle Conditions explained by Rhy Thomas, Foot & Surgeon Cardiff

Disorders of the foot and ankle include the bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, tendons, nerves and skin.  Orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeons are medically-qualified doctors that specialise in this area.  They perform reconstructive surgery (such as treatment of arthritis or bunion correction); treat sports injuries (such as achilles problems and ligament sprains; and treat trauma cases (such as broken ankles).  Diabetic foot problems are also commonly treated by a foot and ankle surgeon.

Many foot and ankle conditions may be treated without surgery.  Mr Thomas liases closely with podiatrists, orthotists and physiotherapists to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to treating foot and ankle disorders.
