Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS)

Several conditions of the foot can now be treated with minimally invasive surgery.  These include bunions and big toe arthritis.

MIS involves using well-tried, standard surgical techniques but performing the surgery through tiny incisions. 

The surgery is monitered using an xray machine in the operating theatre apart from the obvious cosmetic benefits, MIS has several other advantages. 

No sutures are required and most cases can be done without the use of a tourniquet. 

A small incision potentially reduces the risk of wound infection. 

The main advantages lie in the minimal disruption to the soft tissues, allowing earlier healing and an earlier return to normal activity.
